Information About Power of Attorney Forms

By | February 13, 2012

A Power of Attorney form is a legal document that allows one person to give another individual the legal authority to act on their behalf.  The individual who signs the Power of Attorney document is called the Principle or Grantor, and the person who is given the authority to act on the Principle’s behalf is called the Agent , Grantee, or Attorney-In-Fact.  The actual authority given and when it is effective is specified in the document.  The scope of authority can consist of Health Care Decisions, Financial Decisions, Real Estate Transactions, or the Sale of a Car.  For this reason, you can download specific attorney-prepared Power of Attorney Forms such as a General Power of Attorney used for financial, business, or legal matters, Power of Attorney for Health Care, Power of Attorney for the Purchase of Real Estate, Power of Attorney for the Sale of Real Estate, or a Power of Attorney for the Sale of Motor Vehicle.  These can all be active or inactive within dates stated.  You also have the option of getting a Power of Attorney Effective Immediately or a Power of Attorney Effective Upon Disability.  If at any time you wish to undo an existing Power of Attorney document, you can sign a Revocation of Power of Attorney form.
